Carla Thomasは、1942年12月21日生まれ。1960年、Rufus & Carlaで、Cause I Love You/Deep Down Inside（Satellite 102）をリリース。同年、Gee Whiz（Look at His Eyes）/For Youをリリース（Satellite 104）。

1961年から、Atlantic/Atcoに録音を開始する。Baby, Let Me Be Good to You, Unchangin’ Loveといった曲もある。1966年にStaxに戻り、LP「Comfort Me」（Stax 706）をリリース。Otis Reddingsとの共演盤を含む7枚のアルバムをリリースしている。
