[Career]
Joe Texは、1933年8月8日テキサス州Rogers生まれで、1982年8月13日に亡くなっている。
1955年、The Sunbeamsを結成するがレコーディングはない。
1955年、Kingに、Come on in This Home/Davy,You Upset My Home（King 4840）を初録音。King期のLPは、The Best of（King 935）がある。
1958年からは、Aceに録音。James BookerのOpen The Doorでは、Lead Vocalを務める。
1959年には、Joe Tex & His X Class Mates名義で、Charlie Brown Got Expelled/Bressed Are Those Tearedを録音（Ace 559）。
この3曲はSoul stirring(WESM 541）で聴くことができる。
ACE期のLPには、The History of（Pride 0020）がある。
1960年には、Annaレーベルに、I’ll Never Your Break Heart Pt.1/同Pt.2を録音（Anna 1124）、Jalyneeにも録音を残す。Anna,Checker期の録音は、Hold on（Checker 2993）に纏められている。
1961年からは、Daialレーベルに録音を始める。1964年夏頃のロンドン配給分ぼDialレコーディングを纏めたものとして、The Best of（London 50017）がある。
Dialの配給がAtlanticに変わって、1965年、Hold What You’ve Got（Atlantic 8106）を発売。
1966年、I’m A Manを含むThe Love You Save（同8124）をリリース。
同年、The Trust Woman in World,Lying’s Just A Habit Johnを含むI’ve Got to Do A Little Bit Better（同 8133）をリリース。
1967年のSkinny Legs and Allは、初のラップ曲として評価されている。
1968年には、Live & Lively（同8156）、1972年には、From The Roots Came The Rapper（同8292）、配給がMercuryに変わってからは、I Got Cha（Dial 6002）をリリースしている。
1976年からはEpic、1981年には、Columbia、Handshakeに録音している。
