The Monitorsは、Doo-wopグループDistants出身で、後にTemptationsに加入するリチャードストリートが在籍したR&Bグループである。Say you :The motown anthologyのlinerによると、The Monitorsは、The Majesticsという名前で1960年にスタートし、ConnturレーベルからHard times/Teenage gossipというシングルでビューし、1963年にリチャードストリートと仕事を開始し、1965年Monitorsと改名、ファーストシングルSay you/Someoneを発表する。そのMonitorsの唯一のアルバムが「Grrtings!」（1968年Soul 714)である。同年代のグループに比べるとR&B色が濃いが、同ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑは、3連系Doo-wopで、時折ファルセットや語りも交えた、初期ミラクルズや南部風テイストも感じられるGreetingsや、同時期のテンプテーションズ、コントゥアーズ、ファイヴドゥートンズ、Robert parker風のジャンプナンバーNumber one in your heat、70年代スウィートソウルを先取りしたようなSince I lost your girlという曲から構成されている。
