Career
Roscoe sheltonは、1950年代からナッシュビルで活動するR&Bシンガーである。
1931年8月22日テネシー州リンチバーグ生まれで、2002年7月27日に亡くなっている。
プロのキャリアとしては、1946年か1947年頃、ブライトスターハーモナイズというプロのゴスペルグループに加入し（Blues&Soul Records No.3 80頁）、エクセロと契約してR&Bを唱う前には、ゴスペルグループのスカイラークスに在籍する。1958年にスカイラークスを辞めてR&Bシンガーになったとのことである（Blues & Soul Records No.3 81頁）。名門GospelチームFairfield Fourにも在籍していたことがある。
R&B業界におけるデビュー作は、1958年10月3日に録音されたSomething’s Wrong / Crazy over You（Excello 2146）である。
Pleadin’ for Loveは、Larry Birdsong with Louis Brooks & His Hi-Toppers(Excello 2076)、Ted Taylor（Solpugits 101）も吹き込んでいる。
1958-1961年のエクセロ時代の作品は、オリジナルLP12曲に13曲がプラスされてAceから発売されている。ウォーキングテンポのギターアレンジで歌うMiss You So、胸に響くようなThere’s nothing I Can do,R&B中のR&Bといった感じのWant your lovin sometime等、1950年代のナッシュヴィルR&Bが楽しめる内容となっている。
Excelloからは、1961年までシングルをリリースしている。
1962年には、Valdot、Battleからシングルをリリース、1963年からは、Simsからシングルをリリースしている。
1965年からは、Sound Stage 7からシングルをリリースしている。
バトル、シムズ時代の作品は、Soul in his music, Music in his soul(Sound stage 7 5002),Sound stage 7時代の作品は、Deep Soul Classics,Vol.3で聴くことができる。
The Beat(DVD）は、Live映像でEasy going fellowを歌う彼を見ることができる。
日本盤には、Gospel色を強く出したピアノ、コーラスの、雄大なバラードを張り裂けるようなヴォーカルを聴くことができるThere’s Heartbreak Somewhereが含まれている。個人的には、バトル、シムズ時代もSound stage 7時代も気に入っている。 その後は、Ref-O-Ree (1972～1973)、Tee-Jay(1975～1984）に録音している。
オリジナル盤（左）と日本盤（右）とでは収録曲目が大幅に異なる。
