Robert Wardは、1959年、Ohio Untouchablesを結成。Falconsの「I Found a Love」のバックを務めていた。Robert Wardの1961～1967年のOhio Untouchablesとしての作品、ソロ作、Falcons,Benny McCkeinのバックを担当したものは、「Hot Stuff」（Relic 7094）に纏められている。
Robert Wardは、1965年、Ohio Untouchablesを離れ、1967年、Ohio Playersと改名してからのFirst LP「First Impression」、「Observation in Time」（Capitol 192）を1968年にリリース。
その後、1970年、West Boundと契約。Pain（West Bound 2015）をリリース。
1974年にMercuryに移籍。Skin Tight（Mercury 705）、Fire（Mercury SRM-1-1013）、Honey（Mercury 1038）といったLPをリリースする。その後は、Arista, Boardwalk, Worner Brothers,AircityからLPをリリースする。
