<p><a href=”http://ameblo.jp/nextcity/entry-11285622611.html” target=”_self”>William Bell</a>、Norman West、Louis Williams、James Taylor、James Buchanonをメンバーとする1956年、ミーティアにLizzy/Alone on a rainy nite、1960年スタックスにJust across the street、William bell作曲のThere’s loveの録音を残したDel-riosが、その後、William bellが脱退し、Norman Westがソロに転向し、1962年に改名したのがOvationsである。Norman Westは後にSoul Childrenのメンバーとなっている。
Ovationsは、ルイ・ウィリアムス、ナザニエル・ルイス、ウィリールイスの3人組で、メンフィスを中心に活動し、60年代の作品は、Peace of Mind（VG3003）に纏められ、同アルバムには、62年頃のMiraclesにニューオリンズのディープソウルをプラスしたようなバラードのPeace of mind、50年代のゴスペルからR&B転向する過程にある頃のサムクックの曲に通ずるIt’s Wonderful to be in love、60年代前半のサムクックの曲に通ずるような、且つ発表された年代としては斬新なキーボードアレンジのI believe I’ll go back home、You send meをやっていた頃のサムクックに通ずるようなI’m living goodといった曲が含まれている。
オリジナルアルバムは、Hooked on a feeling（Sound of Memphis 7001)、Having a party(MGM4945)がある。
70年代の作品集としてSweet thingがある。 </p>
