[Career]
1950年代からナッシュビルで活躍するシンガーにEarl Gainesがいる。1935年8月19日アラバマ州ディケーター生まれで、2009年12月31日に亡くなっている。
1955年には、Louis Brocks & Hi-toppersのメンバーとして「It’s Love Baby」のヒットを記録している。リズムパターンやホーンリフ、サックスソロなど典型的なR&Bの作りとなっている。同曲は、Night Train to NashvilleというCDで聴くことができる。
Now Do You I Hear/Best Of Luck Baby,Sittin’ And Drinkin’, Three Times Seven,I Understandといった1958年から1960年までの作品は、Champion Single Collection（SPV309192）で聴くことができる。
1960年代に入っても、ソウルナンバーを歌い続け、オルガンとギターを中心としてディープなナンバーのMy Woman、You can make it if you tryをスローにして、静かなピアノと厚みのあるホーンが登場するバラードThree wishesなど、ハリウッド、デラックス時代の作品は、Lovin’ blues(Deluxe DLP-12002)に収録されている。同アルバムでは、24Hours a dayというタイトルでIt’s love babyを演じている。テンポが速くなり、ピアノとブラスセッションも時代に応じてオリジナルに比べ、モダンなアレンジとなっている。HollyWood時代には、1968年に、We Gonna Miss You,Otis(Hollywood 1123)を吹き込んでいる。
LPは、他に「That’s How Strong My Love Is」、「Best Of Luck To You」（Hanna Babera HLP 8508)がある。Yearnin’ and Burninn’という作品集もある。
